Social Media Master – Wk 6: Keep on top of progress

We like to practice what we preach here at Handle. As a small business ourselves we like to use our own Handle account to monitor our digital profile. This is the sixth instalment of a weekly series reflecting on how I have used our Handle social report to improve our strategy and gain results. Hopefully, this will give you ideas for your own social strategy and help you further understand how you can use Handle to your advantage. This week I have focused on reflecting on the strategy to meet weaknesses highlighted by Handle.

If you’ve any missed previous instalments and want to catch up I've linked them below.

  1. How we’re using Handle to become a social media master – Wk 1
  2. Social Media Master: Attract the right people – Wk 2
  3. Social Media Master: Create the right content – Wk 3
  4. Social Media Master: Refocus the strategy – Wk 4
  5. Social Media Master: Encourage engagement – Wk 5

After implementing the employee advocacy programme, I have seen an increase in reach and engagement on all of our social channels (Twitter, LinkedIn & Facebook). The enthusiasm seen from the office has been encouraging, suggesting this will be something that will continue to progress.

To keep on top of this I’ve been tracking performance in my score card recording each time a member of the office engages with our content. Retweets, mentions and shares are worth double that of a like or comment. The reason for this is because we gain more reach by being retweeted or shared than we do from a like or a comment. (You can download my score card template from this blog.)

Keeping on top of the post engagement is another thing that will continue to be evaluated. A document containing our three social platforms and each individual posts amount of engagement has given me a clear view of what content is doing best on what channels, so that we can cater it to our followers on each channel.

We will be following our social media progress over the next few weeks in a series of blog posts. If you've missed our previous posts in the series click the links below to be redirected.
